So I'm not exactly near my machine's storage limit, but I still like using cleaning up my files as a procrastination device.

I went to look at the storage breakdown and I can account for just about everything except what's throwing me through a loop is the ~114GB of "Apps". My applications folder is 50GB, my library is 20GB. Even assuming I have some random things scattered around, even 10GB of it, that's still ~30GB of mystery. Anyone know what this might be?

Another way of breaking it down that I don't get is that my main login + the free space still brings me ~90GB short of where I should be. I do have two spare logins though I almost never use them. Would each of them have something like 45GB of duplicate system/app files?

Any help would be appreciated.

That storage graphic is completely screwed up and almost always wrong. Is uses the Spotlight index and when that index gets corrupted the readings are all wrong. You can reindex Spotlight with the command below in Terminal and it will fix the readout for a while, but you can count on it being off again soon.

Code:
sudo mdutil -E /

Give it a half hour or so to complete the reindex.

Followed both bits of advice and some other stuff I found on the fora and while the results weren't the full answer, I don't care enough to keep searching. Thanks for your help, both of you!

The other day, the storage graphic showed apps are taking up 60+ gb on a 45gb partition... It does do weird things... I would not take the storage graphics seriously
