I have a non-jailbroken 3GS and installed the modified carrier profile at benm.at several weeks ago to allow tethering over bluetooth and usb in 3.0. I didn't do any MMS mods as I really needed the tethering instead. After awhile I noticed that my GPS stopped working. It would never zoom in past the large cell triangulation circle, and if it did somehow make it, it was unusable with horrible refresh times in my location. Other times it would snap to a middle of a neighborhood off the main road and never leave that point.

Is it safe to assume that this carrier profile messed up the cell triangulation, which is keeping the gps from getting an accurate lock? After removing the profile and resetting network settings, the GPS lock is accurate even if I'm inside near a window and updates continuously. And if this is true, does anyone know of a carrier profile that doesn't have this issue? Or will I just have to keep uninstalling profiles / resetting my network settings every time I want to use my GPS again? I'll only really need the tethering for about three more weeks until my wife and I move into our new apartment, but may use it sporadically after that. But then 3.1 might break it still. Bleh.

Thanks for the help!

Am I the only one who has this issue? Or does nobody actually use their GPS? It's a pain. Can someone please post a mobile config link that is confirmed to work with GPS? Strangely enough I have never had any VV issues...

I installed a profile from help.benm.at and GPS is working fine for me, have you tried to remove the profile to see if that makes a difference in GPS performance?
