Hi guys!
So i've had a windows xp pc for a long time and have been using itunes on there with my ipod etc..
now i have got a macbook, and i was told that i could just plug in my ipod into my mac and all the songs would transfer onto my itunes perfectly..

well, i plugged my ipod in and itunes came up, and a message pops up:

"The Ipod "Dom's Ipod" is synced with another Itunes library. An Ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. What would you like to do?

"Erase and Sync" - Replaces contents of this ipod with the contents of this library.

"Transfer purchases" - Copies itunes store purchases this computer is authorised to play from this ipod to this itunes library.

So im not too sure which one to click!
Please help! i dont want to lose any of my music and movies!!

iTunes will not pull music from the iPod. To go iPod to computer, you need a utility such as senutil. Try searching google for 'ipod to computer' and you'll get pages of results.

ive had a look on google and stuff and it all pretty much requires me to download a program etc, is this the only way to get my music onto my itunes mac? surely there's another way?? :S

if not, then thanks for the suggestion, ill just download something from google and try and work it out from there :)

Just to clarify: iTunes WILL pull purchased music from the iTunes store onto the computer if you select "Transfer purchases". It will not do a straight dump of all music/video content on the iPod into iTunes. This means that any songs ripped from CD, or songs you may have purchased from Amazon or other music retailers and put onto the iPod, will not be moved over without Senuti or another similar application.

go into the music folder on ur pc, copy the itunes folder in the music folder onto usb stick or watever, stick the usb in ur mac, then drag the folder into itunes, everything, including artwork will be transferred but u'll lose play count etc
