I have a macbook and it has like 4gb space left. when I plug in my ipad 2 its asks to backup and I don't want to do that since i don't have space. How can I update to IOS5 without backup.

Can I transfer itunes to my external hard-drive and then backup and update.
If i have to transfer itunes to external hard drive how do I do that?

Invest in a newer, bigger HD soon.

And you should be able to back up fine w/ 4gb. Thats plenty of room. But yeah get a bigger HD, FAST!
