I'll be purchasing a used Mac Mini later tonight. According to the seller it is a year old, 2.0ghz Core2duo, 9400M GeForce. When I meet the guy I won't have an opportunity to test the unit or view the specs. What precautions should I take? Will the unit have the model number on it? What model number should it be? Any other advise?

1gb RAM 120gb HDD

Does this sound right? I just want to make sure it has the GeForce 9400M, DDR3 RAM and all the newer stuff so i can run my HD videos and HTPC.

He's selling for $400. Is that a decent deal?

I was gonna get 4gb RAM used or new and i already have a Hitachi 7k320 HDD and i will be connecting my WD MyBook external.

Is $400 a good deal? Do you recall how much this sold for new?

Op, the model seems about right, $400 seems like a decent enough deal. Meet somewhere so you can power it up at the very least. I'd be meeting at a place where I could see the unit power up while plugged into some sort of display if I weren't buying it online.

Unfortunately i couldn't meet up at a place where i could test the unit. I bite the bullet and bought it anyway and fired her up at home and it seems all is well. It is a bit dirty though. Seems like it was used near a window cause theres a layer of Hawaiian red dirt covering the Mac Mini, its cables, and the vent intake next to the ports in the back. Maybe i'll open her up and do a clean up.

BTW classic sig! :D
