Ok, I've got two problems.

First, I'm trying to play a video file that my friend burned on a Cd for me. Its a .wmv file. Is there any program I can download or anything I can do to play this file? I've got a MacBook. I've tried downloading a few things from the Windows Media Player website but nothing is working....

Second, could someone tell me how to save pictures that you find online? On the PC you just right click on them and save as, but on the mac if you go to save as it saves to whole page as a web archive instead of just the picture on as .jpg or other picture file. Could someone help please?

Thanks!

Both problems easily solved.

1) Get Flip4Mac here: www.versiontracker.com . It has just gone universal and will help ya out with those WMV's

2) Do you have a 2 button mouse? For graphics in your browser you use the same method as in Windows. Either right click and select save image, or click and hold on the graphic until the contexual menu appears, or finally use Control-Click for the contexual menu. Make sure you do save image, and not download target. What browser are you using?

To save an image, cant you just click, drag and drop it on your desktop?
thats always worked for me:)

"sometimes" MPlayer OS X does play .wmv files correctly. Mine works sometimes. Or else, the Windows Media Player should work. Or if worst, then use Flip4Mac.

Egad, don't save Flip4Mac for the last option, it should be the first one. MS's Windows Media Player is dead--even Microsoft themselves admitted it when they paid Flip4Mac to give their codec away for free. And before that, when it cost $20, it was worth every penny--I bought it.

So install Flip4Mac, and just about any WMV should play properly. If it doesn't, the chances are it simply won't play on a Mac--it's either licensed media (for which there is currently no Mac support, period), or funky in some way.

And for the saving images, Xander562 said it--just drag and drop. You can, if you prefer, also control click on the image and select "Save image..." from the context menu (if you have a one-button mouse, control-click is the equivalent of right clicking).

By the way... Xander and Willow in the same thread?

Thanks so much everyone!

One more question though, what is "control clicking"?
I have a one button mouse so I'll try the click and drag thing...

thanks again!
