I purchased this av cable from eBay that was advertised as working with the new 160gb classic ipod.

I tried it out last night and it worked perfectly; however this morning it would not work. Last night I used the cable immediately after pausing the video I was watching with the official apple cable and then disconnecting it and using this new cable. The video worked perfectly. However when trying to use this same (eBay purchased) cable when starting a new video, nothing would show on the TV. The ipod keeps asking for me to attach a video av accessory.

So, is there some kind of chip in the "official" apple ipod cable that makes it the only cable that will work with the new ipods? I would really love to use this $7 cable that I purchased off eBay because it is so compact and great for travel. Any ideas if this cable can be made to work? Thanks!
