I just got done typing a 16 page paper and I was using spell check. I chose to ignore a word and now all I get is the spinning beach ball. I can't force quit because I haven't saved it. Is there anything I can do? please

dont exit yet, but I am 90% sure word for windows auto saves the document every 10 minutes in the state it was last in so all the time it would quit it would load something from the cache.

I dont know about mac.

I will give it five more minutes then I am forcing it to quit if no one else has any suggestions. This is really making me mad. I do believe it was auto saving it though.

I know that with Office X, it autosaves about every 10 minutes. I assume that 2004 will do the same thing too if you have that one. It will just pop up when you reopen word.

Word v.X has crashed on me once and I hadn't saved for a while. However, I just reopened Word and it came up with the essay exactly as I'd left it which is really cool.

Did 2004 do the same for you?

I get the beachball every once in awhile with Word. It's the ONLY problem I've had with my iBook, and it's MS product...go figure.

You'll get a recovered document when you reopen, you'll just have to see where it was when it saved. Save OFTEN!

In your head.
This happened to me when ever I brought up the Drawing Tool bar. One day it worked and the next it didn't. Everything else in M$ Office worked, just not the Drawing Tool Bar You will have to uninstall and then reinstall M$ Office. On the CD is a program that you will have to move to your HD called uninstall (unless you already installed it). The clean install should not nuke custom toolbars (at least it didn't with me).

I hope you got your paper back.
