I usually don't have MAJOR latency issues... it only happens once and a while but when it does - it's haardcore :/

I just moved in with my boyfriend recently and I started having pretty bad lagg today in a raid. My latency actually went up to about 10000 ms and needless to say, i couldn't do anything.

Right now, sitting in a quiet spot in Org i'm at about 122ms but i'm lucky if i can even talk to anyone, so i'm still lagging really bad. I've got all my video settings down right now but my framerate isn't really the issue.

I know it isn't my internet connection because i'm on safari right now without a problem and my boyfriends been playing wow and in vent this whole time without any issues...

Please help me fix this issue. I don't know how to do those trace routes i see people posting so I can't help much there... I do go into activity monitor and end any tasks that aren't important while playing wow so nothing is running in the background that could be affecting this.. I suppose maybe posting some of my mac info could help? :(

What's your internet setup like? If you have a weak wireless signal and your boyfriend is using a wired connection, it could help explain the discrepancy. Try using an ethernet cable to plug directly into the router (just as a troubleshooting step) and see if your lag goes away.

We're both using airport connection but he is really close to the router and all that, i'm on the other side of the apartment - could that be affecting it? I've also heard of peoples microwaves affecting their internet connection.. could t.v's do that? because there's two t.v's between me and the router. Thanks!

Yeah, pretty much anything electronic is going to cause some amount of interference with the router connection.

Do you get full bars showing on your computer, for the connection? If so, it might just be too much work on the wireless to handle both your computers with an internet game. If that's the case, then I'd suggest your bf, since he's stationed closer to the router, use a network cable. That way you're the only one connected on wireless.

Ideally, you both should be connected by a network cable for gaming, but that's not always an aesthetically pleasing solution to run a 100' cable to the other side of your living space.

A wireless connection is always suspect. I'd try a cable at least temporarily to see if it fixes the problem, and then troubleshoot from there.
