I have clean installed my mac and now want to load from back up.

When I enter the password to unlock the disk, it says password incorrect. (I'm sure the password is correct as I wrote it down). So my hard disk in my mac is wiped, and data in the hard disk is lock.

I need my data, therefore wiping the disk is not an option. Please advise further action.

Had you previously entered that password and it worked?

Your situation is exactly the same as someone who doesn't know the password to a disk that they aren't supposed to access so I'm not sure there is a way around it.
