My new MacBook Pro 13 inch arrived. I did the migration assistant and all the apps got transferred over but for some reason my documents folder, desktop, music library, and such did not transfer over from the time machine backup. Can anyone assist I would appreciate it thanks?

Did you by chance create an account on your new MacBook Pro prior to using the Migration Assistant? If you did, that's the reason. When using the MA to transfer a Time Machine backup to a new machine, you should not create an account on the new machine. The MA will take care of that for you when it moves all your user data over to the new machine.

I did. How can this be fixed? I rebooted holding down command + R and tried to restore that way but it said that it could not be restored because Time Machine backups were created using a different model Mac. So I am just running migration assistant in the finder. Thanks for your help.

Yeah... like @chscag mentioned, you goofed when you made an account first, then ran migration assistant.

To fix this you should start over. command-r boot to recovery then erase the internal drive and reinstall the OS. Then when it restarts into system setup run the migration assistant to bring everything back in. That will import your account along with your data.
