I've had regular sized cds get stuck (my iBook stopped recognizing the drive)... I had to take it to an Apple store and have them get it out.

First, as you've figured out, very, very few slot-loading drives accept mini CDs/DVDs.

I would try using gravity to help you out...tilt your machine a bit and try to gently shake the disc out.

Other people have tried things like sticking something with a piece of tape on the end of it into the drive, but obviously physically sticking things into your drive exponentially increases the chances of you damaging it.

There's a good chance that you won't be able to get it out and you'll likely have to take it to Apple and have them open it up and remove the disc. Hopefully it won't come to that. Good luck.

Finally I have arrived.....
I could not help myself asking you why you did it? The Apple manual clearly says you cannot use non-standard sized disk with the slot loading optical drive.

Have you tried pointing your optical drive opening down and shake a little bit as you press the eject button on the upper right corner of your keyboard?

Well for the next time you have that problem, I would suggest that you ask a friend to burn a copy on a full size disk. While slots loaded drives save a lot of space and make the computer really slick. They always make me nervous as all heck when ever I put a disk in them.

what i tend to do (and i'll admit, this doesn't help you out at all, its just a nice tip for the future), is put the disc in a different mac or a pc. connect to the other computer via the network icon in the finder, then mount the disc on your computer/laptop. it goes slower, but it does work. for the most part, i'd recommend that you don't put a small disc in there, just doesn't work.

I don't read manuals. I know I should, but whatever. I blame my blondeness.

Well I tried the shaking, and it worked! That's the last time I ever try sticking an itty-bitty CD into my computer.

Thanks you guys!

It's not the first time.

In my days of tech-support I have seen...

someone stick a 3.5" floppy into a 5.25" drive. (and push it all the way back)

someone stick a 5.25" floppy into a 3.5" drive (folded!)

someone take the "hard case" on a 5.25" floppy off, and then stick the remaining magnetic media in the drive....

assorted floppies stuck into slot-loading CD-ROM drives (no Mom, that isn't the floppy drive)

and yes, even the CD-ROM tray used as a cupholder. (not an urban legend!)
