Help!!!

My MacMini just locked up when I was online and I could not shut it down properly . It locked so I had to turn it off. Now it will not reboot. It starts up but stops at the gray screen and I do not get the revolving wheel. Instead I get something that looks like a File Folder with a "?" mark in the middle of it. What did I do...how can I correct this?

Start up off your OSX DVD and use Disk Utility to repair the disk and permissions. See if that fixes anything. You may need to reinstall the OS
