I just deleted Palringo because it was causing my phone to crash. So I'm looking for a different im app with these features (any help is appreciated):

1- Gmail Talk
2- Stay online after closing
3- Email Notifications
4- Costs less than $9.99

Thanks!

BeejiveIM is the best IM app available on the Appstore. It's 15.99 and worth every penny. Check it out.

I'd totally recommend BeeJive, as it is worth the price.

But since you are on a budget, the only thing left is IM+ which covers all of your requirements.

Of course you could also wait until meebo comes out in the summer xD. I don't know if they're releasing for free or for a price, though.

BeeJive

Currently BeeJive but that may all change when 3.0 is released and background notifications are allowed.
BeeJive is worth the $.

I would love to see Adium available.

Are there any stability issues with Beejive or IM+? The only reason I got rid of Palringo was that it crashed a lot and made my phone run slow. I never had any issues with my phone before installing it (and things have been smooth since deleting it).

Thanks!

Wait, how could Palringo make your iPhone run slow? You can't do anything on your iPhone while it's running except play music. Once you hit that home button, Palringo is no longer running on the device at all, not affecting anything about the iPhone.

You may want to tough it out with Palringo rather than spend any money on an IM App until Apple releases OS 3.0, as that's going to allow IM apps to make your phone alert you when a message comes in even while the app isn't running. You don't want to spend money an an App that doesn't end up supporting that.

Well, even though I closed Palringo it was remaining stuck in my ram somehow. There has been a huge difference in performance since I deleted the program and restarting my phone. I know it's not supposed to run in the background but with the amount it crashed, somehow it got things stuck.

Well, that's just not possible in a third-party app. Your system probably was low on memory from other things such as browsing the web (Safari does stay in memory, as do a few other of Apple's native apps). Note, when your system is low on memory, it will make any running app crash to the home screen to save memory, so if you were low on memory for any other reason, that would cause whatever was running to appear to crash. When that starts happening again, I'd suggest you reboot the iPhone, by holding down the reset button until you get the option to turn off the device, then turn it off and when it's off turn it on again. That will clear memory.
