Having problems with it not wanting to last very long. I'm getting less and less use outta it every time I use it. Time to recalibrate it and see if that helps. Here are some screen captures to show how bad it is.

Have you ever calibrated before today? I'm certainly not an authority on how long your battery should last but but I've got 26 Cycles on mine and it's still only at 96%. I have seen it where I calibrated and it went up a percent or two so hopefully that'll happen for you. At 10 Cycles mine was still at 100% Health.

I have had exactly the same experience. 10 cycles = 100%, 25 cycles = 97%

Last calibrated about a month ago when I got this new battery. The old one had the same problem. I was at about 27 cycles, it would only last about an hour or two just browsing the web, and so Apple sent me a new one. My health had dropped down to about 96% and slowly regained back up to 100% at that 27 cycles. I guess I'll kill this battery today and start a calibration. Wish me luck!

what constitutes a cycle? Is it best to use a macbook on battery then charge to full or just leave it charging all the time and then keep topping it up if you need to switch to battery for a bit.

Thanks.

Thanks.

One full discharge/recharge is a cycle. Or 10 discharges to 90% and small recharges. Or any combination thereof. Lithium Ion batteries prefer shallow cycling (small discharge/recharge). www.batteryuniversity.com

I don't know exactly how low you have to go to count as a cycle. I know I haven't gone below 50% and it's counted the next charge as a cycle. It's not necessarily best to use it on battery then charge, but if you have it plugged in most of the time you definitely want to calibrate it about once a month.

When I shut it off at school after using it for about 30 minutes I was down to 59 minutes and 59% charge. I sure hope it's nothing serious with my computer. This is kinda scaring me!

So, here is another question. When calibrating, it says to leave it plugged in for at least 2 hours on a full charge and then to turn it on and disconnect the power and drain it. I had mine on a full charge overnight (Thursday to Friday) and it was asleep before I took it to school and started using it. I put it to sleep a few times throughout the day before draining it all the way last night.

So, do you think I need to recharge it, let it sit for 2 hours, and then use it until it dies again all in one continuous go around? Please let me know!

Yeah, I checked mine and this is what it's showing:

I've only had it for about 2 months now but I try to keep it charged when-ever I can just to keep the battery life up. As you can see 19 charges, 99% battery life.

I'd definitely send it back!

So is my battery bad then. I have had my computer since June.

I'd say both of those are ok. Recalibrate it and see what happens.

I am at 10 cycles and down to 96% health with a battery lasting under 2 hours. This is ridiculous.

What's the problem? I don't see anything wrong with those numbers.

Got mine back up to 99% with a 100% charge. I pulled the power adapter and let it sit for about a minute to calculate the remaining life. No apps open, screen brightness at the lowest possible setting (where the light is still on) and nothing else happening. It said I had 2:22 left. I still think I should have more life than that off a battery with 11 cycles on it. What do you think?

good thing though, 'cause my last iBook battery sucked!

Here is the latest tonight. I'm draining it without turning it off this time. Let's see how it works out this time.

Here is a new update. I've been running it for about 40 minutes so far surfing the web using wireless. I did a battery recalibrate again and then restarted it and let it sit with the power attached over the weekend. Seems to be doing much better now!
