After a lot of thought and a quick trial over the last week, I'm about to switch over to mobileme from gmail. I've have a iphone and two macs that I want to keep in sync. I have set everything up and so far the sync between the computers and the iphone have been flawless. Ical and mail.app have also synced perfectly as well. I have also set up a few online galleries of my 11 month old son, perfect for sharing with family and friends. I have read the many problems and so far I have seen none. Hopefully I picked a good time to switch over. I don't mind paying since trying to replicate all these services including the push mail would cost extra money or not be possible for free. Hopefully I'm making the right decision. After being a phone junky, I seem to have settled on the iphone. It will only get better in the future. Hopefully apple continues to improve the web email and adds more features.

I signed up for the service back in August 2008 when Mobile Me was still quite new.
I also never received any of the problems that so many people reported.
Mobile Me sync's between an iPhone original, iPhone 3G, my Mac Mini and my MacBook. Everything works fine, it always has.

Mmm, I have had an iphone for over a year and a New iMac arriving this week. I am in 2 minds whether to give it a try after reading the horror stories on here. Nice to hear someone who has success with it.

so far so good. I'm actually really enjoying it. I have had no problems. Everything is syncing in realtime.
I might just sign up tonight then, there is a 60 day trial so I have nothing to lose and hopefully my iMac will arrive this week.
Sign up for a free trial. Test it out. If you use the features and find them to your liking, make the purchase. That's the beauty of a free two months.
Just checking out some issues before I do. I have just read that signing up and syncing will erase my iphone as it first syncs with MM.

It will indeed delete all of your current iPhone contacts. I suggest you make sure your computer has a recent backup of your iPhone before you sync for the first time.
They are quite different from Outlook, but not so different you'll be completely lost. Waiting until you have played with the iMac for a little while is probably prudent, especially since that (I assume) will be the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with from now on.
Yes, my iPhone is currently synced with outlook. I am hoping to set up my iMac and then type all my contacts into the Mail Client and all the calendar stuff into iCal and then perhaps I can delve into the MM.
I also want to restore my iPhone from the iMac so its all synced with no errors. It will also give me the opportunity to sort my contacts out
You can export your contacts from Outlook and then import them into the Address Book (so you don't have to type them all), and as for the calendars, you should be able to publish those (or export them or something) and then add them to iCal pretty easily, so you don't have to type them all in again.
