I think this is good if you want to use the Mac Mini as a server, since the deal includes a server service at their data centers.

Otherwise there isn't much of a point as the extra money spent would be a waste.

True. You would want to use it for hosting purposes at least for a year. Still, very good that they are able to offer an i7 1012 which are often hard to get.
