So, I downloaded Catalina, closed System Prefs, went to close all the apps before system asks for install.


Came back to System Preferences, Catalina installer vanished completely, and now it is downloading again...

Apple, pls get serious already, this is beginning to hurt...

Third time, alright, this time I am not gonna close System Preferences:

So, far, 4 tries, and I got it to work on 5th.


When you experience the same problems as me, just be persistent, that appears to be the only solution.

Remember, a tiny break in your Internet connection to the server would mean starting over again even if you're 1MB away from completion...nothing new. That's why it's best to be an early adopter and download the same day the OS releases...days later, the whole WORLD will be downloading. Also, you shouldn't need to leave System Preference open since the completed OS installer would be in your Applications.

With my experience of Catalina so far. Take that as a omen and don’t upgrade!
