So you guys think you're waiting a long time for your nmp to be delivered….here's a little story..

I had a previous model MP but have had troubles with the machine since day one, to make a long story short: over the years Apple attempted to repair the computer 4 times but in the end they just couldn't find out what exactly caused the problems.

They decided to just replace the computer but since this model was no longer allowed to be sold in the UK and the nmp was just announced (this was in june!) they offered to replace the old one with the nmp.

So basically i'm waiting for a working computer since June and have yet to receive my replacement.

I'm waiting 11 months now and there's absolutely nothing i can do but take it…i had to pay for a second hand computer just so i can continue working ….

I had a somehow similar story...but not 11 months long!

I had a somehow similar story but not such an ever lasting story as yours.
However I had bought the previous MP from an Apple reseller in Basel, Switzerland, not directly from Apple.
I took it for repair not 4 times but probably a dozen times (!) and could not know if they actually "did" what they said they did to repair it or not, since honesty is not written in that company with a big "H".

After the 3 years coverage were long over, I was desperate and not knowing what to do, i wrote to someone from Apple.
They were so kind to replace my MacPro 1.1 by the then available Mid-2010 5.1.
It took just a couple of weeks.

You were very unlucky to have that situation at the time Apple was not allowed to sell any longer the 5.1 and the 6.1 was still on the drawing table.
However since end 2013 the nMP is manufactured and shipped.
I cannot understand that they did not put you among the very first customers to be delivered.

On the other side, I know it will not take away your bitterness, but chances are that when you receive finally your nMP, some bugs which have and still are causing problems and worries to the first receivers (mentioned in other threads in detail) might be already solved.:D
Every early customer of a new generation product is unwillingly a kind of guinea pig.
At least there will be many of "them" before you become one.

A little consolation, I believe, since I am also waiting, although by far not as long as you, and very much hope to receive a good working computer. :)
They say that hope is the last thing one loses...
I understand your bitterness and hope it finds very soon a happy end :)

Bad timing falling into the transition between old and new MP, indeed. However, this story falls in the exceptions category. Things go bad when the exceptions become the rule, as it is now with the normal nMP orders.

It sucks for sure, but it sounds like in the end it will be worth it. Did they just promise you the cheapest model?

Apple still is a very user friendly company!

Although in your case, things did not happen in the way they should, let's be fair.
I do not know any other computer manufacturer who will exchange a faulty machine of an old generation by an entirely new model.
I agree that the moment it happened to you was the worst possible, but still Apple offers to a customer something that I doubt any other computer manufacturer would ever do.
Now let's hope it all finishes soon and in a happy way.
My best wishes to you!
Regards from Switzerland!
Edmund.
