Hi All,

Thinking about buying different types of straps for the A6 :)

Been absolutely years since I’ve worn a leather strap. In fact over 10 years ago since the last time I wore a mechanical watch, a nice Seamaster with a SS loop. Those were the days before settling down! 😢 🙂

I’m not much of a dresser, but this could be something I can do, minimal hassle and a something to fire the imagination.

I found this cool website talking about looking after different types of watch strap materials:

Be great to hear you experiences on looking after your straps as well, and any hassles to deal with etc.

Regards
Martin

I shower with the watch on occasionally. That's more than I've ever needed.

Hiya T,

Showering even with your leather strap on the AW?

Perhaps its just suede, but I always thought you are not supposed to get leather wet, to keep it supple etc. Be great if the apple straps are treated so you don’t have to think about it etc.,

Thanks for joining the discussion! 🙂

Leather cleaner?

I haven't been wearing leather during this OCD handwashing season :)

Showers for sport bands and loops.

Hi T,

Ohh thats a good point about leather straps. Covid - damn, what a pain.

I suppose now is a good time to assess what to get in the mean time.

May be worth my investigating leather cleaners that are ok against the skin all day. Everyone is different, so I may try and find a potential cleaner for me, then try a small sample on the forearm to see if I get a nasty reaction etc.

Judging by the posts from other poor souls who have have had nasty reactions - be it leather and other types of straps - It would be worth my cleaning the straps off before I wear them, with the cleaner I would be using from then on anyway.

Cheers

I may just stick with Sports loops to start with, as they seem the most hassle free, and I’ll finds some fun different designs to go with for now.

It is a nice feeling to wear leather though. I remember motorbike leathers, the smell, feel and functional ruggedness.

Cheers
