I got my MacBook in May 2007 and I'm sticking true to it until May 2011

Anyone else feel the same way?

They recently my Core Duo with a Core2Duo, so here's to one more year than it would have been :)

my pb is 4 years old and i was hoping to replace it with the "next big" update but after todays update im not.

When I bought my refurbished 2.0 ghz Core Duo MBP last November, it cost me more money than any other computer I ever purchased. I don't have any desire to spend any money on a new computer anytime soon.

However, to be honest, replacing my current MBP with something else did cross my mind recently. Two weeks ago, my machine was in for repair for the fourth time in less than a year, this time a logicboard replacement. I was frustrated and lost a lot of confidence in it after the last repair, but ultimately I decided to purchase Applecare since my warranty expires next week. Purchasing AC isn't something I would normally do, but considering the history of this machine, I feel better having done it.

So basically that means this thing will be with me until at least November 2009, probably longer.

If you can ignore all the marketing hype and the pressure of peers who will encourage you to buy the latest and greatest, I think you'll find that these newer dual-core computers will demonstrate impressive longevity. Barring an unforeseen circumstance, I can't see upgrading my iMac for at least three years. And realistically, it's probably going to viable for twice that long.

So just ignore the marketing and get to work. Your Mac will reward you for it. ;)

here's to my macbook for another three years! i hoping this lasts me the rest of college then i plan on getting one badass mac when im done! i really can't wait although its soo long from now!!

Considering mine is running GMA950 and I'm limited to 2GB of ram I'm probably gonna replace mine within 2 years at the most. I love my Macbook, but I need a little more power and a bigger screen (I do photoshop stuff a lot too) and would like to bump up to a Pro but couldn't afford it. I'll just sell mine on Ebay or to a friend and pay the difference.

I'll replace mine in mid'ish 2009 right when they update the Macbook Pro around then most likely. Get the hardware when it's new rather then like when I got the macbook, only to become old tech within 2 months by apple lol.

Truer words have never been spoken. Have a CD macbook, but yearn for the MBP. Why? Looks and what I COULD do. What will I do? safari, word and a little world of warcraft!

How long CAN a Apple computer last???

The oldest, working Mac I've seen was an Apple II. :D

My former Biology teacher used an original Apple II in the classroom.

Prof. :apple:

My sweet little Powerbook 100 is still tickin'! I wonder if my Apple Printer would work too... but I'm out of ink, ha ha. I've been out for while ;).

Mine's simply the previous revision, so it's basically the same thing. I hope to be using this machine for a long time!

Got my MBP on monday. Love it to bits but its going to get replaced next year for a penryn + 4Gb + 17" 1920x1200 + 300Gb 7200RPM.

Love this thing to bits tho.

My Powermac G4 is nearly 5 years old (bought 22nd November 2002 )

Finally going on the bay :)

here's to my 500 MHz Ti Book approaching 7 years with no end in sight !! (installing Leopard tomorrow)

by the way, Leopard is faster than Tiger on my "unsupported" system

Laptops should last 4-6 years, though I can certainly understand those with the funds who need the upgrades who get a new one every 2-4 years. I am sure even if after 3 or 4 years I put the cash down on a new Mac portable or upgrade to the MBP I am going to keep the MacBook that I will be getting today and I probably will find some use for it. I think I am going to put my Thinkpad on full time folding@home duty after today and of course my dedicated Linux box.

my PB 3400c runs great (OS 8.5, immediate predecessor to the G3) Got me through college. It has the swappable floppy/optical drive. Every now and then I'll post here on it via Netscape 4.

I am typically hard-pressed to stick with a laptop for ONE year...I can't image FOUR!

Although every time I buy I tell myself it will be long-term. It just never works out that way. ;)

My previous PB lasted me four tough years at high school... I'm counting on my new MBP to do the same for college. :apple:

I've had my MacBook for a year and a half now, and am planning on having it last me until I finish my degree in 09 and then well into the beyond. Realistically, I'll be using it until I finish my masters I think. It does everything I want, all I can see myself doing is going from 1GB of RAM to 2GB in the near future and replacing the battery every year and a half or so. I only wish to get a MBP for the purpose of having an aluminum casing.
