Hello - was wondering if anyone here has an Hermes Single Tour and a Classic Buckle by Apple and what their thoughts are on the differences.

Obviously there will be a difference in the quality but how big is the difference?

What about durability? Scratches? Stains?

I own a classic buckle and actually think the quality is great. Thoughts?

In case it’s helpful to anyone, I went to an Apple store to figure this out myself. I tried on a Barenia Hermes band first and right away you can 100% feel the difference. It is softer and much thinner than the classic buckle.

it does not LOOK so different but it defiantly feels different. for me it’s not worth it and plus I haha a space grey alum watch so it doesn’t even make sense but it feels so nice.

I have a saddle brown classic buckle (the last generation with the square buckle) and a genuine indigo/crai/orange swift Hermes single tour.

I haven’t taken them both out and done a back to back comparison, but I’d say the Hermes swift is ”finer”. Both are high quality, and both are supple and thin leather, but the Hermes is more supple and thin.

There isn’t a lot of difference - it’s well into the area of diminishing returns - and they’re the best two leather watch straps I’ve ever owned (as a lifetime watch wearer since about 5 years old).

Personally I’d probably only go for the Hermes over the Apple for the style - in other words I think I’d get the Apple for something like saddle brown - but I have a Hermes S5 on the way for my wife’s birthday present that has the fauvre barina double tour, so I’ll soon know for sure if that holds true. Of course the Apple one is no longer available, or currently isn’t available at least. Perhaps that’s part of their agreement with Hermes, or perhaps the classic buckle will come back.
