Hey desktop users, will you get a Magic Trackpad when Lion comes out?

Just curious, because a lot of the features won't be available with a mouse (I have a Logitech G9x).

I was thinking of having a trackpad for gestures to use with my left hand, then a keyboard and mouse to use normally...don't know how that one would work though....

I am using a macbook 4,1 which does not have a multi-touch trackpad. Although I am planning to upgrade to OS X 10.7, I will be getting by with my trackpad and magic mouse: no magic trackpad for me.

I have Magic Mouse so I think I'm settled. If Apple doesn't give me something, I'll just use BTT.

That is how I would use one, it wouldn't be a mouse replacement for me.

Funny you ask. Just today I actually turned off my Magic Mouse and stuck it in the drawer. This after watching the keynote last night. I am going to MAKE myself use the trackpad I bought and hardly every used. I also plan to buy one for the iMac I just put in the family room for my wife and step daughter. I figure if they are going to make the switch from Windows to OS X they might as well start off with a trackpad. I'll pick them up one this weekend.

That is how I would use one, it wouldn't be a mouse replacement for me.

It works great yeah, and I've found myself using the Trackpad a hell of a lot more...

And very easy to use...

Got a magic trackpad last year and use it almost exclusively. Not great for games though so I break out the MX Revolution for those occasions.

I've had a magic trackpad on my 10.6 mini for a while, and it's got a bunch of gestures assigned to it. It's the only thing 10.6 offers (to me) over 10.5, even contemplated upgrading for just that. (ultimately didn't)

Yes, Gestures is one of the major 10 features they demoed. http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/gestures.html

Mission control was also clearly designed for gestures first and foremost.

After watching the keynote it seems that Lion almost demands you use the trackpad so it's probably time to get one.

I currently use a Magic Trackpad on my Mac running Snow Leopard in conjunction with BetterTouchTool. I've got gestures for everything (opening new tabs in Safari, closing windows, playing and pausing music, skipping tracks, opening and closing Dashboard) and I love it.

I think it's a much better product for multi-touch that the Magic Mouse is. If I need to do some precise work (in Photoshop, for instance), I just move my hand over slightly to my mouse which I also have plugged into my system. Best of both worlds.

I have been using a Magic Trackpad with my MacBook ever since I got it as a gift for Christmas. Using multi-touch gestures on my iPad is what convinced me to give the Magic Trackpad a try on my MacBook. I have an older white MacBook that does not have multi-touch gestures. I Never realized how much I was missing out on without them, especially when combined with BetterTouchTool. I absolutely love using my Magic Trackpad with Snow Leopard, and Lion of course. Makes SL seem like a whole new OS with multi-touch enabled.

But to answer the question, probably not, 70 bucks too is to much for me to shell out on a magic trackpad, I'm a bit of a cheapo. I'll still be getting Lion though.
