HHD faster than SSD?

No, the SSD contains no moving components so it can jump strait to data instead of having to wait for the platters of a conventional hard drive to come up to speed.
Right. Don't be deceived by the graphs that show that HDD peak I/O is higher: random access is much more important, since the things that your computer wants to read are going to be scattered all over the hard drive.
Of course, is it $700 better? That's up to you to decide.
