hi res photos sync'd fine before iOS5 upgrade - now it doesn't

before upgrading to iOS 5 the other day, i was syncing about 1,000 hi res photos (wedding photos) from my pc to my iphone 4. after the upgrade, syncing does not work. iTunes freezes in the middle of syncing, and i have to force close it. i have tried deleting the "ipod photo cache" folder, and resyncing, but have failed each time.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
