Hi : ) !!! Yosimite installation and password problem!

Hi,

I just downloaded Yosimite. It really took awhile with
my internet connection. I had not updated since OS X
10.6.8 I had started to think that my computer had
started to fall apart in the inside. However, the Wifi
failing and other problems, may be due to having a
problem with the 'system's password'. I have been
required in the last month and half to give a password,
(the password one is required to update the OS X).
The password I thought I had always used is not
working. How could create a new password or retrieve
one?
