Many people probably watched the Apple Commercials passively, but I happened to notice something in them that others probably didnt. In the ilife one, the "Windows" guy is using a current 30 Gig iPod 5g. This probably means they arent going to release a new iPod any time soon because that would mean they have an older iPod in their other commercials. Well it also really depends on how long the ads run for...but if they put them on their homepage it must be pretty significant. Another thing that also bugged me was that at the end of the commercials there was only the iMac, and they didnt show off the MBP....:(

well, if they release a new iPod (not replacing the existing one) that's mainly for video content, then this commercial could still run fine.

And I agree, the ending image is kinda funky. the weird little "Mac" seems very unnatural to me...

C'MON APPLE, just show expose in a commercial! ONCE!!

I was surprised that the other Intel machines werent shown aswell. But I spose these ads are simple, and having the MBP and the Mac Mini etc. would clutter the space.

I also agree with what ero87 noted, the "?Mac" does seem out of place. I remember when I first saw this on earlier ads (i think it was the intel-chip ad), it looked like an amatuer video designer had thrown the last few seconds together.

And there is always other members of the iPod line which could be updated, leaving this ad still current.

The reason that the iMac is shown is because the iMac has been the face of Apple's computer business since it was released. It is the most recognized product from Apple (aside from the iPod) and it has been the most recognized through all three of its cosmetic surgeries. It just makes sense.

I think that the ad is being read into too much. The iPod is an awesomely identifiable product, yet some people dont connect them with mac or Apple, so I think that they are just trying to market the fact that they have an awesome product that (allmost) everyone loves. I don't think it means too much in terms of updates.

But I think it's really cool that you thought of that. Macrumors members are so intelligent...

I think the Apple is because Joe Public doesn't even recognize (according to polls) that Apple computer makes the iPod. They do recognize the all-to-familiar Apple logo... and it reminds them of their lovely iPod.
Am I making any sense?

edit: Damn! How are people always beating me to post???

I agree, this just seems like pure speculation. But then again, who knows for sure... :)

Are you stuck on dial-up internet service like me?

Someone walked into the service center i work at the other day complaining because our buisness name had "Mac" in it, not "Apple".

I had to try so hard to not laugh. I mean, How can people not make the association?
