Hide mail while writing

I might be seeing things but I could swear that I saw a feature in mail when Yosemite was shown the first time. I remember seeing someone making a demo of mail - and while he was writing a mail he wanted to look up something in another mail in the inbox. He then made the mail slide down and he was then able to acces the inbox behind it.
Was I dreaming? I can't seem to make that happen.

Maybe he just clicked the yellow stoplight button?

Or use Spaces. Do your composition on one Space, then hot-key to the inbox to check other stuff.

Spaces FTW.

Wasn’t that a feature of iOS 8?
 
No, I distinctly remember him talking about it as a new feature. But was it iOS 8? And if it was then how do you do it there?

Maybe I'm just not remembering straight?

It's definitely iOS 8. If you have an email you're composing, you'll notice it's in a little box instead of full screen. Just pull down from the top and it slides down to the bottom of the screen. Just pull it back up when you're ready to continue.

Um. E-mails in OSX are in separate windows. Just move it to the side. Or switch to the other window. Or have them up side-by-side, or whatever else you might do on a windowed multitasking system like OSX.
