There are two updates of the same name totaling over 1GB that I don't expect to use in the near future, that appear in Software Updates causing an ever-present red badge on the System Preferences icon so it's harder to tell when there are other updates. Any way to effectively hide these updates until needed?

a) Seriously? You're worried about 1GB? ?
b) You don't USE the supplemental content. You USE FCP or Motion. And if you do, you need this, simple. If you don't use the apps, then DELETE them? And the update will disappear, too. Done. Can't have your cake and eat it, too.

It's regarding my Macbook Air without much total space so best to conserve as much as I can on that one, meaning no unnecessary files which even if 1GB each can add up quickly.

I use FCP, but I don't need the supplemental content. Just like I use Logic Pro but don't need the extra content it tries to download, but the latter doesn't linger in Software Updates if I ignore it.

I'm in the same boat. I only do video editing in FCP (all work is marketing and graphics-related material, where audio seldom has any role). So yes, while 1GB may not sound like it is that obtrusive to most users, the FCP X Supplemental Content is all-audio content and is still 1GB not needed to be stored on my Mac. I do have 1TB on my MBP, but prior to my recent backup and reimage, I was at <10GB of available space on this SSD, so 1GB here-and-there does indeed eventually add up. Unfortunately, I have found no way to disable this update. The only recourse is to manually remove the content from <HDD>/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Library/Content after it is downloaded if I am short for space.

So, as I mentioned, I don't want to see updates for Final Cut Pro EXTRAS (I'm referring to the Final Cut Pro X Supplemental Content 1.0, etc) in my Software Update, when they should appear in App Store updates or in FCP itself. I don't need or want them on my space-limited Macbook Air, and therefore don't want to download them.

Second, if the FCP updates HAVE to appear there, I don't want to receive notifications of this every time I turn on my Mac. "Automatically keep my Mac up to date" is disabled and so is everything in Advanced... including "Check for updates". When I right-click on the notification itself and hit notification settings, it takes me to the Notifications & Focus settings where I only see notification settings for specific apps rather than the system update notifications.

Any advice on disabling the system update notifications, ideally only for those updates relating to FCP, would be appreciated.
