I have some R-rated apps on my iPhone that I don't want my daughter to be playing.

With a Jailbroken phone, is there a way to hide these?

Yes, with jailbroken phone, install sbsettings and when you open sbsetting by sliding your finger on top bar, it will open up the settings and in those settings you can hide the icons whichever you dont want to appear on your screen.

You can also semi-hide and still have access to them by putting them in the SBSettings dock.

cant this be done using the parental controls in settings?

Only for certain apps (App Store, iTunes, YouTube).

If you do go the Poof! route, check out Spotbright. It replaces the spotlight finder and will show the hidden apps when you search. Without it you'll have to unhide those apps any time you want to use them.

I suggested creating a password protected folder and place your icons in there.

Use Categories w/ CategoriesSB for the folders, and mAdvLock for password protecting apps/folders. The solution costs a little money, but I think it's worth it. (For extra security, you can password protect the apps as well but I don't think you'll need to go that far.)
