Hiding Running App's Dock Icon

How can I hide an app's icon in the dock even if its running? I want it to still run I just don't want it in my dock.

Im guessing it can be done somehow because some apps that run (Quicksilver) does not have an icon but still can be run

I'm not sure it can be done (easily).

Dock does it. So, does a lot of small programs. Crack open activity monitor and you will probably notice a myriad of programs running without Dockies (hehe). I think there might be a preference that does this or possibly it is a design choice. I do think getting that to happen would involve tweaking of the program which doesn't seem like the solutiono you want.
