High Capcity Hardrive

What is the largest usb external hard drive I can use on a 2012 mac pro desktop computer? Looking at an 8TB.

I've used external single SATA HDD drives in USB dock and USB RAIDs 8TB and larger with USB 3.0 PCIe card. Depending on RAID, capacity much larger than 8TB is possible.

Largest single drive I've seen recently is 14TB.

I have an 8TB hard drive connected via USB 3, via a PCIe card. Along with several other external hard drives of varying capacities via USB 3 and Firewire (8TB being the largest).
