iPhone X High pitched screech on speakerphone

anyone else get this? Happened to me twice so far. High pitched squeal or screech that completely blocks the incoming signal. Lasts a couple seconds then goes away.

Does you case interfere with the mics? Is this sound feedback?

It happens on my 8 plus when using AirPods or speakerphone. Not very often but it gets your attention. It happened yesterday on a call using WiFi so on a whim I turned WiFi off and the screeching stopped. First time I tried that usually I just hang up after flinging AirPod

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I never experienced the screeching sound with my X, but with my XS, just the past 2 days I've been hearing the screeching sound using my AirPods. I yanked them out of my ear and the earpiece on the phone seemed to be okay.
