High quality setting for Apple music

What is your problem with the sound quality compared to Spotify? The reviews so far have suggested that Apple Music is at least as good, possibly even better.
Trust me. Spotify sounds better! I want to like Apple music and listen to music everyday using my Bose quiet comfort 20i noise canceling headphones.. Apple music is low in volume and sound distant compared to Spotify's premium service. Love everything else about Apple music though. Can't wait to try out the high quality setting to see if this makes a difference. This will definitely be a deal breaker for me. Have you tried that setting in iOS 9 yet??
The only thing I can suggest is use the hip hop setting which will give you more bass but with Apple music the volume will be low.
Thanks, but WOW. It sure does drop the volume! Someday they need to give us some control on iOS like they do on iTunes.
Low volume is not an indicator of SQ. In fact it is usually just the opposite.

I didn't realize that people who buy Bose stuff care about quality. Some hifi magazines don't even review Bose stuff, as the sound coming out of their devices has nothing to do with high quality sound reproduction.
That explains it. You care about volume, not quality. Well, then a high quality setting does not guarantee to make you happy. Apple could be broadcasting in a lossless (i.e. the highest possible quality) format, and it wouldn't affect loudness in any way.
Good news! Volume is adjustable in iOS 8 and later. (it was adjustable as far back as iOS 1 too)
The quality toggle for while on cellular is for having the same quality as while on wifi. (256 Apple plus) previously without the toggle it streamed lower quality to save on data consumption. People with unlimited data wanted a way to stream same quality as on wifi since they don't need to worry about data use. Thus the new toggle in iOS 9.
The high quality setting only affects cellular, and will be the same quality you get when you stream on wifi or download them for offline use.

As to over wifi, I stream only over cellular as I have only UL data plans. The HQ cellular option for Apple's offerings are hugely better than the iOS 8 option.
FWIW, the new iOS HQ streaming-over-cellular option sounds - to me - as satisfying as those same songs on two different hard copy options played through a DAC. I'm pretty impressed, but I'm glad that I don't have a crippled/metered data plan. Also, I have a Mercedes GL and Subaru Forester - both have a 13-speaker+sub setup - hey, I love my tunes, from Rush to Tupac to Martina McBride. Rage Against The Machine is playing right now on my Yamaha monitors on my iPad 3 (over cellular) - my friend was looking for the CD player to replay the last song, so there you go - it's that decent.
My business partner doesn't have an UL data plan - he streams music from our work account, and he's ditched his Spotify account. I'm very particular (read: really anal) about my AAC and ALAC rips of our CDs. Also, I've found that Amazon Music's recent upgrades have put them on-par with Spotify - since we're a Prime sub it's a no-cost option with 1.5-million playlist songs on top of my owned music. IMHO, Spotify and Pandora are a waste of cash now.

Okay this is really good news for me.. I was very worried about the sound quality. Thanks for the great reply because i am to very serious about my tunes also. Can't wait for iOS 9 now.
You're welcome, I forgot one tidbit if you haven't read about it elsewhere. Regarding Prime Music, one can upload and access your own music and create playlists, although I haven't done that yet. The tidbit - no ads, ever, even on their music. Nice, that!
