Hi, I got a 2019 iMac 4K 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i3 with 32G of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
It seems that I am 'running out' of RAM quite regular, even with 32G of RAM. I use CleanMyMac which also monitors RAM usage/availability and I have to regularly 'free up' RAM.
I don't use any large programs, just your 'normal' stuff such as WORD etc now and then, I am also running Windows 10 in Parallels.
Whay would I be running out of RAM so quickly and regularly. Is there a way to 'limit' RAM usage by the various programs/software?

Folks have different ideas of what "running out" means.
In Activity Monitor, is memory pressure still green, and "Swap Used" is low? If so, you are not running out.

The computer "uses" all the memory for caching etc whether it really needs to or not. It just sort of parks stuff there just in case you might use it again, and releases it if RAM is actually needed for something else.

I suggest post a screenshot of your Activity Monitor memory tab, so we can understand the situation

attached is a screenshot of the Activity Monitor I just took....looks like 'fseventsd' is the biggest user

OK, looks like "photoanalysisd" was the culprit as well, for now, I disabled that process, now it is much better

In your first screenshot, yes, you are definitely running out of memory, and fseventsd and photoanalysisd (which may be related) are the obvious culprits. Your solution needs to be figuring why these are taking so much RAM. I do not know enough about these processes, but I think photoanalysisd is something to do with object recognition in the Mac Photos app. Do you have an especially large number of photos in the Photos app? Or added a lot of photos to this app recently? It may just be a matter of letting it run its course until the object recognition is done.
fseventsd looks like it has a memory leak to me (keeps requesting more memory, without releasing any).

Sometimes if you disable a process, it will just return as the app will invoke it again. Notice how photoanalyisd has reappeared lower down in your second screenshot, taking 149MB.

btw on my iMac, fseventsd is currently using only 19MB and photoanalysisd is using only 47MB - basically nothing

I have 'disabled' photoanalysisd, after reading up on it after posting here yesterday. This 'process' is not critical, so it is OK to disable it. Since then, no issues with RAM.
I do have a large photo library, so I might transfer all that into a separate external SSD and keep PHOTO app empty. Need to look into this a bit more.
fseventsd also now does not seem to be taking up a lot of RAM either anymore.
Thanks for your suggestions and time, appreciate it.
