High Sierra Green screen Mac Mini 2012 i7

The strange thing is when i watch netflix or youtube and i put the video in fullscreen , the whole video get a green/red layer... and when i move the mouse it goes away.. this problem i already had with the GM version.
and it seems that finder is buggy, i get a blank screen in finder.
This is al with a clean install.

Searches I did there were similar problems with HTML5 hardware acceleration with firefox (they were able to correct it by removing the module that did the hardware acceleration).

Now, we certainly don't want the hardware acceleration disabled. Reported this as a bug to Apple.

I wonder if I roll back the video driver to the Sierra version if it won't fix it. Going to give it a whirl.

There is an issue with Intel HD3000 (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-pro-late-2011-owners-beware.2072699/). It seems, some common problem with Intel graphics drivers.

Different chipset, different problem.

The Sierra drivers didn't fly (of course it couldn't be that easy)

Hey guys. Just discovered something. It appears to only be happening on mine with standard definition content (older stuff like Star Trek, Friends, the first seasons of Family Guy). High definition content, there's no change.

Could others verify if they find the same?

Yep I have exactly the same issue as described above, very annoying. Has anybody found a solution yet?

Hmm. You still have it? We figured Apple changed something which broke SD playback on Netflix, then told Netflix to fix what they were doing wrong and Netflix fixed it. My playback stopped having the problem.

I’m still having this problem too.. Even 10.13.1 didn’t fix it.

Yep just updated to the latest version of high sierra today and this bug isn’t fixed yet. Also it’s not just Netflix but SD video’s in iTunes also have the same problem. Getting tired of buggy Mac OS’s......

Just also figured out it’s actually 4:3 video’s as all 16:9 video’s in either SD or HD are working fine.

Can you give some URLs that are causing the issue? I'm not seeing this on my Late 2012 Mini i7 with macOS 10.13.1

If you have Netflix try some early episode”s of the shows “Frazier” and “Allo Allo”, both of these are exhibiting the problem on my system.

I also have an older Dell but it's not HDCP compliant so it wouldn't allow Netflix to even play while connected, I had to disconnect that.

Is it happening with HDMI perhaps, or with a specific resolution?

Sorry for the slow reply, my display is a 1080p TV connected via HDMI.

I found so far SD in 16:9 seems to work ok but SD in 4:3 is a problem.

Yep, happening again here as well. Also using a 1080p TV (Panasonic) via HDMI, through an AV Receiver (Pioneer).

(eg. maybe there's different versions of the Inktomi caching servers that are causing this problem?) We're randomly hitting servers that are communicating differently as they're using different software revisions?

You have the advantage there that it's an entirely Apple problem....I hope you've reported it!

Could still be an Inktomi/Akamai issue. I'd imagine Apple would have their own caching infrastructure, but they're likely running the same software. I think Apple only uses Akamai's infrastructure when it makes sense (for burst need - capacity on demand). Steady state is likely all in-house servers.

That would be something to suggest when reporting the issue - that the content caching/serving software version may have a hand in this (what would explain why I'm seeing it intermittently on Netflix with HD content).

I have the same issue with Netflix on my 2017 Macbook. I get it on HD and SD content, but only when subtitles are enabled. Turn the subtitles off, the problem goes away.

Ok update, it seems to be connected to resolution threshold irrespective of screen ratio, was just watching a 16:9 SD res show and initially while buffering the picture was very pixalated (very low res) and the screen turned green, but a minute later the same show once back at normal SD resolution the green screen went away.

Is anyone seeing this using a display that is connected via something other than HDMI? I'm not seeing it at all but my display isn't HDMI.
