Anyone notice high temps during sleep mode? When I put the computer to sleep at night, iStat Menus is showing that while the Mac Studio was asleep, it has temps of 45-50c. Normal idle temps while its on is around 35c. The only things I keep physically connected to it are 2 Studio displays.

FWIW I currently have 2 Mac Studios (Max & Ultra) and it does the same thing on both, so I'm guessing it's some kind of software bug, maybe because the Studio Displays are connected. I was just wondering if anyone noticed similar.

Update: both Mac Studios are still heating up during sleep mode even with my Studio Displays disconnected.

Maybe iStats running in BG chewing up resources?

iStats doing crypto mining without your knowledge?

Just sayin!

When the Mac Studio sleeps the fans shut down. When awake they are on constantly. Simple result is the power supply heats up the entire case when sleeping. If you use an IR thermometer when the fans are on the entire case is basically room temperature. When asleep the entire case heats up... I have taken to using an Eve power strip to totally cut the power to my Studio and display as a power conserving measure and to prolong the fan life and cleanliness in the Studio Display (the fans run when asleep...). The sleep temperature is not a bug IMHO. The heat level doesn't seem to warrant the fans being on all the time and, as you may know, some users really have issues with fan noise.

If that's the case, I'd just let it sit there "awake, but idling".
Let the fan run at "minimum speed".

Either put the display to sleep, or -- if it has an on/off switch -- just turn it off.

@u2u2 must be correct in that the fans turn off when asleep and even with the low power draw of sleep, you are still getting some heat generated by the power supply which then warms the case after a while. I’ll have to check mine to see if it is the same.

I have the same issue and it gets surprisingly warm. Rather than put the system to sleep, I'll play a long video such as one of those sleep videos on Youtube. The system then is cool and the air coming out too, is cool.

Yes, sometimes but it’s not consistent. I’ve noticed sometimes it’s very warm when I wake it up and sometimes it’s at normal temperature. I shut it down rather than put it to sleep now.

My work around was to simply play music quietly and lock the screen rather than put the system to sleep or simply lock the screen. With the music playing, the Studio remained cooler than when idle.

Tonight I'll try (with Ventura) to simply put the system to sleep for an hour or two and hope that the system remains cool. Thanks all here for sharing your experiences.
