Hi all, I actually have two questions today. I am running a Rev D(? its the one RIGHT before this new rev came out a month ago or so, thats D right?) 15" PB with 128MB VRAM, 1.5GB RAM.

1. Is there any possible way to run my PB at a higher resolution than is offered? I am a high resolution addict, and 1280x854 just isn't cutting it for me. I know the newer REV powerbooks have the ability to run at a higher resolution, so there should be some kind of software manipulation for me to be able to run mine at a higher res, correct?

2. The mouse acceleration in OS X doesn't really bother me except for when I'm in first person shooters. Particularly America's Army and Battlefield 1942. I have tried disabling and manipulating the mouse options in the game itself and outside of the game in OS X, but to no avail. I still suck with it. However, when I use my roommate's PC with his mouse(same mouse just in WinXP), it's much better. I have tried using USB Overdrive, but that didn't help, it still wasn't the same mouse movement that I found and spent 10 years of my life getting used to in WinXP. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance, this forum has been a lifesaver many a times with my new Mac.

1. No. The LCD on the PB and all other LCD displays operates at a fixed resolution. Always. It is not like a CRT that can display different resolutions. It's composed of a grid of elements that become transmissive or absorptive of light -- their number and position is fixed, and so there is no way to display a higher resolution because there aren't enough elements. Even when a lower resolution is chosen, the LCD interpolates and casts that image onto its fixed resolution. So the only option to get a higher resolution than you have is to use an external screen or get a different computer. Sorry. :(

2. I'm not sure, but I think you have to keep trying third party acceleration programs. Try this one: http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/

Hope that helps?

No, you cannot change the resolution beyond the LCD's max.

As for the mouse acceleration, I have been trying to find a way to fix this for 2 years now, ever since I've started using Macs. However, it simply doesn't seem possible to get an acceleration curve that is similar to WinXP. No 3rd party program that i've tried has been able to solve this.

The new ones don't have "the ability to run at a higher resolution" they HAVE a higher resolution. There are physically more pixels in the screens.

LCD's have a finite number of pixels they can display (native resolution) and:
a) Cannot display more.
b) Shouldn't be made to run at less than native resolution.

So yeah, it's a separate screen or newer rev PB for you.

As for the mouse acceleration thing, I don't game so I can't help you there.
