I have a 2.0 Ghz iMac Core Duo and I was just wondering what others with this model have gotten their fan speeds up to. I have my HDD around 1700 from 1400 rpm and ODD/CPU are at 1150 from 800. What have you gone up to? (and not screwed up the comp:p)

My fan speed goes up to like 4000rpm + for the cpu. hdd and gpu are around 2000 I think.

I am on an iMac g5 1.8ghz ... the fan gets really damn annoying, so loud.
Like sometimes i'll be internet browsing, and the fan just starts going really fast... My mate told me that this model of the PowerPC iMac's had fan problems.

But yeah... if anyone knows how to fix it without it ruining my mac, let me know.

=]

P.S. Getting a 24" iMac 2.8ghz soon anyway.

Mate, my fan speeds are set to 1400 (ODD) / 2100 (HDD) / 1500 (CPU) which is my default setting for summer over here in Dublin, not as hot as back home in Australia mind you, but the Mac does seem to feel the heat. These speeds will drop when Winter rolls around, which here in Dublin could be any day now! :)

My game settings are 2100 / 3200 / 2200, I mainly game in XP and for some reason the Mac seems to get quite a bit hotter when playing games (Crysis, Assassins Creed, Gears, etc) under XP, but a couple of people I know who are tech heads say that XP does this, so I'm not worried as much about it as I was.

I have got a "MAXIMUM" setting for a quick cool down which is 2200 / 3700 / 2400 but I don't really use that that often (only used it 1 or 2 times) because I don't think it would be too good for the fans, it's mainly just for an quick cool down as I said.

I checked the highest I can go with SMC and the fan speeds and they are 4800 / 5900 / 3600.

Hope that helps.
