Hello Everyone,
I noticed something, and there may be a way to tell or give one a heads up so to speak on when one of the accessories or even the iPad 3G itself may ship. When I ordered my stuff I got 3 items that stated LATE APRIL and those items were the Keyboard Dock, The Extra Long Power Cord, and of course the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G version itself.

To update you I am getting my Keyboard Dock that did state LATE APRIL tomorrow. Fed-Ex will deliver it tomorrow, it is sitting in the Fed-Ex Local Warehouse in Las Vegas, NV. as I am writing this message to you.

Another thing I noticed is the power cord is now listed on the Apple Store site as will ship as 5-7 days which tells me that I should be getting a prepared to ship any day now and i should get it shipped in maybe 1 week from today or sooner.

If this is true, then maybe all one needs to do is keep track of the Apple Store area and see when things state they will ship, and that may give you a hint on when we can speculate when it may ship. I could be way off but it does gives something to think about.

There is much speculation on when the iPad will ship, some say that people Apple is waiting for the 14 day return period to end which is appx April 19th to start preparing the shipments and others are saying Apple is waiting until 1st week in May. The fact is nobody really knows except Apple but my method at least may give us a hint at when it could ship. Something to ponder over . . .

They also may be waiting until the iPad is set to be released worldwide, which the is the 24th I believe. Poor speculation, but either way I won't be getting one for a couple months either way.

Hmm...I give it a 'maybe'

I had a case on order that shipped Friday instead of April 15th but stores have them in stock locally. I don't know if the accs are just slow in production or what.

There have been other threads regarding this topic. But nonetheless, it baffles me that Apple just wouldn't have staggered their production runs based on projected sales demand for Wi-Fi vs. 3G. I'm not sure what that ratio would be (say 10:1 for example) but at least both flavors of the device in all three storage capacities would have been in the hands of consumers during the April 3rd launch. I just don't understand the logic in delaying the 3G.

The FCC must approve cell radios placed in any consumer device - this takes about 3 months. This wasn't Apple's choice.

Apple could have:
a) submitted the iPad earlier to the FCC, but that would have ruined the launch in January, as an FCC filing is public, and people would have known about the iPad.
b) held off the wifi iPad until such a time as the FCC approved the iPad 3G and released both at the end of April.

The same applies to the wifi radio and Bluetooth radio in the Wifi only iPad. The 3G version isn't any different with regards to the FCC and needing prior approvals.

No, the application for both the Wifi only version and the Wifi+3G version wasn't submitted to the FCC until after the January preview, with the cover letters of the application showing a date of around Feb 12/18 and the docs went public on March 12.

I don't think that they would release both versions in other countries on the 24th and not have the same offerings available in the US by that date.

The 24th is a safe bet.

I received my "late april" keyboard dock last Tuesday; I don't think the ship date of the unrelated accessories is a good indicator of the 3G availability.

I wouldn't count on 3G shipping until Apple passes the two-week return date for everyone who purchased a WiFi model on the first day of availability. I could just be overly cynical, though.

Well, i just got off the phone with apple customer care and the girl told me that they were told that the Ipad 3G will arrive from the 25th to the 30th of the month. It still in the late april window. I was hoping for the 23rd but what can we do..

My long cord power adapter shipped like 3 days ago and should be here in 2 days.

When did you order yours? I ordered mine on March 12 like 9 pm PST USA time. I still don't have even a prepare for shipment notice.

I thought Apple employees could not let out any information like this to protect their job. But if it is true then well that is in my time frame guess of the 27th as the official release date.

And this should surprise no one. "Late April" has always meant just that. Take it to mean "April 30." Anything before that is a bonus.

I was surprised myself. I keep asking the same thing in different ways and that was the last thing she told me.

this makes alot of sense

Well if the 14-day theory is true, then this weekend the return window will expire. Having said that, I would hope we should see "prepared for shipment" notices starting to appear this weekend - if not sooner.
