Hello,
I have been learning how to use hipstamtic for taking pictures. I have a question though. When I exit the app the icon has the little red circle with a number. It seems to be increasing everytime I take a pic. What is it saving and how to I make that go away? I can't seem to find anything in the menus. Your help is appreciated!

it's how many pictures you've taken (developed) but not looked at within the app

It's just letting you know how many apps are processing in the background. A new feature with iOS4 so you don't lose any of the images you shoot if you back out of the app.

At some point, open the app up again and let the photos finish processing. The numbers should go away as they process and you should be good.
