Evidently Hitachi has a new 7200 hard drive with 200 GB capacity. And it has a 16 MB buffer (compared to the 160 GB drives' 8 MB buffer).

Everyone except OWC seems to be out of stock, but the best pricing I can find is around $250.

Based on past Hitachi Travelstar versus Barracuda Seagate benchmarks, I'm holding out for the 200 gig answer from Seagate.

.

Me too.

I'm probably going to walk in and buy a 15" 2.4 Santa Rosa tomorrow and Call OWC for 4 gigs of Ram.

When the 200 gig 7200 RPM Seagate comes out, I'll buy it!!!

Gives me a month to save.:D :D :D

Gotta love OWC and their price gouging.

Wait for some benchmarks on the drive. The Seagate 160GB drive is still top-performer at the moment.

I know Dell is offering the 200GB drive BTO on their new XPS M1330 (which if it was cheaper would be quite nice -- but right now MacBook Pros are more competitive in pricing... crazy).
