HL2: Alex Freezes

Well, she doesn't exactly freeze, but she doesn't do anything apart from look around a bit, including checking out my crotch.

Its in the Entanglement chapter, after using the teleporter. The level starts, she says something about Doctor Kliener not being there to greet them (without moving her lips) and then just stands there. Preventing me from doing anything apart from look around. I've tried to get out, ive tried waiting and now I'm unsure what to do. Any ideas how to get round this? It happens every time.

I had the same, did try to noclip past (which screwed up my achievements, oops) but the scene didn't continue...

Ended up loads the previous save, I think just as you set up the turrets and going from there, on the third go the game went fine

I came here to bitch about the same thing in the same place. First her AI broke once Barney got on the screen and now her AI broke again right when you get out of the teleporter. And now I'm out of Entanglement saves.

I've just tried beige matchbox's solution and it's done exactly that. Third time lucky hopefully...

EDIT: She always seems to crash when Barney comes in the TV. At least I have a few proper saves in that level and near the end of the last one.

Get this fixed valve!

Yeah I just went through Entanglement again, saved before the teleportation and no matter how many times I reload it she freezes in the same place. I'm sending an Email to Valve because they really need to fix this.

Edit: Apparently, this has been reported several times on the Steam forums, so I'm sure Valve is well aware of this.

The game creates an auto-save in the middle of the teleport. Try to load that. Or then just suicide. Maybe you have many enough explosives in your pockets, or there might be a command for it.

Anyways, had same issue in the same scene like many others have had. Auto-save saved the day for me.

Alex freeze

I was having this same problem, but managed to get around it. Just stay in the transporter room while Alex and the Doctor dialogue event finishes, than Alex will open the door for you. Hopefully this works out for you guys, and I am sure Valve will fix this bug very soon.

I've just got past it. Killing myself with a grenade did it fine.

Maybe someone could try noclipping through the entire level.... see if that works.

27th time was the charm for me (literally). I just got done beating the game, actually. Here's hoping I don't run into something like this in Episodes 1 or 2.

Yup, had the same problem. What worked for me was the autosave reload-reload-reload... I don't know how many I went through, first several I was the stuck in teleporter, then had the glitch when the Doc goes looking for his pet, and finally it played all the way through and Alyx opened the door.

I just went through this bit a few hours ago. No problems.

A few years ago, when I was playing it on Boot Camp, I had a problem in the combine tower at the end just after the "you know what" gets "you know what"-ed (avoiding spoilers!), where I couldn't jump, and therefore couldn't get past one of the bits. A reload from a previous save worked there too.
