I'm getting the SR MBP 2.4 with a 160gig 7200vpm harddrive in the middle of august. I'll be a brand new mac user and im a bit afraid:O I've been using windows machines for 10 years, and know windows in and out. How long will it take me to get used to OS X?

Question two: Later this year or the next, i was thinking of maybe buying either a 23" apple screen to my MBP, OR a new iMac to have at my desk to work with at home. What would you suggest guys? Will I be satisfied with the MBP and a screen or should I go for an iMac when I can afford it?

using mac os x won't be hard by any means, but it will take some time to get used to, especially if you've been using windows for so long. it'll also take some time to learn all the intricacies of the operating system, shortcuts here and there and the like. how long depends on how much you put into the effort. it really varies from person to person.

about your second question, i'd ask whether you need or could use a second computer. if one will do just fine, i say get the 23" display and forego the imac.

1) No time at all. If you're reasonably competent with Windows chances are you have a mind that adapts to user interfaces quite well anyway. When I first got my MB I went out and bought "The Hidden Manuals: Tiger", and I can tell you I've never once used it. It's all intuitive.

2) If you buy an iMac now, it'll pretty much be as powerful (or less powerful) than your MBP, so I would get the 23" ACD. However, if you wait a while, new iMacs are on their way which might be interesting...
