This is nearly as blurry as those old elevator picture leaks!

Can't read a thing on them but here's hoping you're onto something :)

I would take a grainy elevator photo any day! Or a blurry white paper for that matter.

Not sure if you remember when the G5 was first announced, there was an slip on the website, hours before the keynote/announcement, that released the specs and an image of a boxed unit in the elevator. Those were the good days.

I love those days. Hopefully, this is it.

I gotta see what Vega is up to.

I'm really curious to see where they will head with the Mac Pro. I would think at a minimum they would have put in thunderbolt 3 this fall with a slight spec bump. I am not sure about the enclosure/chasis; I can't speak to say it was a flop or not-HP and Samsung both have similar offerings to the tube/triangular design, and the Microsoft Studio isn't the traditional form factor either. I think overall outside of serious workstations more consumer based systems are going the 'device' route. Here's hoping for a better 2017 on the Mac front.

I'm just afraid of dongles...either way, this is more of spec bump (which is needed). For form factor, it might stay the same. I'm thinking this may be the reason why Apple gave "200 dollar discount." We'll see...hopefully they would announce mac pro sometime this year.

Erm, that Kaby Lake CPU is nothing more than 4 core CPU.

Also any CPU that will go to MP is Xeon E5, not E3.

Maybe with all the RD they did they'll have this be the new Mac mini (Mac studio/geared towards high end mini customer base) and have a more workstation solution for a tower. Hoping I know.

The tube really is great engineering, just geared towards the wrong audience imo.

Mac Pro 6.1 is targeted at Metal software audience.

When it comes to audience,I think there is a schism between closed device and external expansion, against open internal expansion. And even that varies within fields and industries.

Thunderbolt is great, don't get me wrong-there are just so many relying on other connectivity options.

As for me, I'm primarily in the market for a machine that can dominate architecture and digital design software. I am looking for serious CPU & GPU performance for both massive 2D and 3D modeling and plans. Prefer most modern connectivity options (again I really love thunderbolt).

I could live happily with a nMP, but not at 2013 prices (*yes there is the storage price drop, but let's be real here) paired with 2013 technology in 2016. Even a table scrap update of thunderbolt 3 and step ups in CPU & GPU would tempt me.

It's really interesting to see all the different fields and how they use the Mac Pro. No one is "right" or "wrong" it all comes down to what works best. For me right now I am limping along with a 2012 rMBP, and serious thunderbolt storage and display-I'd love a dedicated workstation, and keep my portable option too, just can't justify it and still waiting to see where things are at until something comes out, or my current setup is out of commission and then I look at HP Z series.
