Where I am, San Angelo, TX. There doesn't seem to be any service even though there is coverage here. Until recently AT&T didn't recognize that there was coverage here even though if you searched with your phone, you could see that "Cingular" service was available.

We used to have Cingular, but then they stopped coverage here and canceled all accounts. At the carnival/rodeo, AT&T had a huge part in it, so that's what got me thinking that AT&T might be coming.

I have T-Mobile currently and I am perfectly happy. I was just wondering if you think that we will be able to purchase service soon, or it is just coverage w/ no service? I am not really interested in the iPhone, but I know plenty of people who are.

AT&T does not offer service in many areas of the country even though they may provide coverage through arrangements with other carriers. There is a pretty large chunk of the country that will never see the iPhone. Service and network coverage are two different things, however GSM network coverage is pretty weak in many areas of the US that do not provide GSM service.
