I requested a hold at my local Office Depot because my current driver is so bad ..
Problem is Apples says the hold request can take up to 24 hours to take effect and my iMac is shipping over night ..
I am wondering if any one knows anything about this or has had an experience ..
I really want to avoid our local Fedex Delivery guy handling my iMac .. Thank you.

If you have a tracking number you can do this directly with FEDEX app or on website.

They lost my computer and then miss routed it and now it says ..
No scheduled delivery date available at this time .. I am sure it will be trashed.

Actually no ..
Not with a computer from Apple .. As per their agreement the request has to come direct from Apple ..

Sorry to hear about your issues with Fed-Ex.

They have never lost or damaged anything for me, but their tracking and delivery system, here at least, are inferior to UPS. At least twice Ive waited around all day for something I needed to sign for and then it didn't show up until the day after it was scheduled to arrive.

My policy for the past several years is to have any major Apple purchase shipped to the local Apple store and pick it up there when it is convenient for me. This has worked well, and would be a lot less hassle in the event of a DOA product - only one company to deal with.

Of course you may not have an Apple store within convenient driving distance. But thought I'd post this for those who do. Best of luck.

I've never had an issue with FedEx Express.

That has not been the case with FedEx Ground (or Home) as they use sub-contracted drivers and I have had numerous issues with those drives just marking business closed or no one to accept deliver when I was home all day. I now just select FedEx 2 day or overnight to avoid the ground folks all together.

Update:
I received my first computer but the monitor was unevenly lite and blotchy and had a slight tint .. I was not happy.
I ordered a second one which arrived in a damaged box but had a better monitor but has an issue waking up using the mouse or keyboard .. I mean it will not if left for too long .. And so I wonder how bad an issue that might be ??

What model computer? mac mini, imac, macbook (air, pro, etc)?

I have a similar issue, FedEx and UPS come so late or they say the home doesn't exist. For both I will have it held at HQ or for FedEx Kinkos (which you should be able to do online with a FedEx account)

When I had my iMac shipped to me, I contacted Apple cause they blocked me being able to have it held. They had it held at the FedEx Kinkos the day of arrival, that way I won't be waiting till 9pm and can pick it up at 9AM. You may be able to contact FedEx to get it held somewhere else.
