The Quicksilver was a good machine execpt for the exposed speaker and speaker noise that was emitted from some models. Other than that a solid computer that can see new life with a video card upgrade.

Wow! We used to have one of those big old 23" Apple CRT monitors. Quite simply the greatest tube screen I've ever used. F*****g big desk needed though.

I'd buy one of those Quicksilvers if they were going cheap enough.

I wouldn't go for it...read the description...the word "UNTESTED" gives me a feeling of uncertainty.

Absolutely agree. And no feedback too? Hmmm.

What's to stop them ripping you off and doing a runner? They've got no feedback to preserve.

Just stumbled across this on eBay:

I'm kinda looking for a Quicksilver to use as a server at home and I stumbled across this. It's tempting, but my wife would kill me!

Looks like EDU 2nd hands...during college I worked summers at a place where we did something like that. Picked up old tech from schools at something like $10/palette. Part of the deal was that there was a lot of trash and handled removal and proper disposal. The good stuff was cleaned up, fixed up, and sold for a surprising profit. My boss was moving units for nearly $200 that he picked up for a couple of bucks.

We also provided large lots -- 12x15" inch monitors, 12 to a palette, or 30-40 computers per palette, which people had shipped to other continents! Its surprising that some of that old stuff is still very useful in parts of the world.

Whoever buys this could probably turn a nifty little profit. My boss threw out all the mac stuff because he knew nothing about it--but a lot of it was more valuable than the dell/compaq/gateway stuff he was keeping! I was allowed to skim off the top, so there was one summer i brought home 4 or 5 macs.

I just think it's remarkable how much better Apple's form factor of design
has come along when you see these old units now.

I'm glad I skipped the whole plastic look altogether and waited for the G5's

My Beige G3 may be antique by todays standards but it still looks
far more professional than those B&W's

Wow, thats a lot of Macs.

I would not mind having one of those 1GHz "Quicksilver" Power Mac G4s.
Too bad you have to buy the whole darn lot. :( Oh well...guess my G5 will have to suffice. ;) :)

That is quite an awesome collection he's got there. I wonder how legit this seller is? However that lot still has a reasonable price 4 hours before the auction ends 800something. (..I know that does not mean all that much...)

OMG! I would definitely love to have one of the Quicksilver's. Possibly even a B&W or the Graphite ones.

Those look like old school computers as they have the white sticker label at the bottoms. I would love to find out where auctions are held in Washington State.

man, if you knew what you wre doing, you could set up a mad computer cluster... use all the processing power as one machine, that would be sick!

It's unfortunate they're untested, he might have bought them as repair units in 1 huge lot. I wouldn't count on all of them working.

The price of the auction is pretty low (accounting for untested status.) If they worked, the 3 Quicksilvers alone would be worth the current auction price ($876 right now with 3 hours to go.)

Regarding cosmetics- I think the B&W's are a bit garish now, but the Quicksilvers and MDD's still look pretty great.

None of them may work on their own, but I bet you can mix and match working parts from different machines to get a few working computers

Well, they sold for ~$1,200. Even if only half of them work that still isn't a bad price. Let's see what kind of feedback the seller gets....
