'Tis the season apparently cause I have seen an abundance of them myself

Sorry man, good luck with that
I know it is frustrating when you return to have to deal with that

At least your cat didn't poop on your monitor :D

i guess it doesnt help i had grapes from 5 months ago sitting in my fridge either or open beer bottles on my counter after i had finished them

yea i cleaned out my sink and i saw a bunch fly into my face

The worst part now, is that when you sit down and eat they'll fly all around your plate!

I go on vacation for a week and a half and i return to an apartment with a gazillion fruit flies

sooooooooooooo not cool

fml

I went away for two weeks a couple of years ago!
The apartment above mine had a fire, and the fire department did a really good job of putting it out!
I think it took them about 8 Hours to put it out....

1000's of gallons of water poured into my place, and I lost EVERYTHING!

Get over it, be a man - do some push-up's or something!

Oh my. :( Sorry to hear that, of course it's all over now tho.

I'd suggest procuring a garden spider. We had one live under a cabinet once, just above the fruit bowl and it feasted all summer until it died. If you can find one you're golden!

Oh man,

I misread the thread title.

I was expecting "Holy Effing, Fruit Flies"

Like flying pigs but with fruit. It would have been a nice sight to see...

I was away for two weeks, and forgot about the garbage sitting in my garage... including a bag of lobster shells from a delicious lobster dinner that I had eaten the night before I left. When I got back home yesterday, the smell in my garage was unbelievable.

I think I'd prefer fruit flies :p

You could get a couple of bug bombs to remove those fruit flies. Just set it off and leave. They should be dead when you get back.

Then thoroughly clean everything that could be contaminated.

I had a mini fridge that was replaced with a larger one, for a full size kegerator. Then stuck the mini fridge outside, unplugged and forgot all about it. Well the freezer part of the mini fridge was left full of salmon roe. Which I found out six months later when I opened that fridge.

That is the foulest odor I have ever known. Black liquid came oozing out. It took multiple passes on that fridges interior with bleach until the odor finally was eliminated.

When I had a fruit fly problem in my apartment I took a clear beer bottle and put some apple cider vinegar in it.
Then made a funnel out of a piece of paper. Fruit flys go in and they do not come out.

Left that on the counter for a week and that was the end of my fruit fly problem. I would change out the beer bottle every few days with a new one. Throwing the old one away.

Go to Walmart, in the pesticide section there are these cylindrical sticky fruit fly catchers (4 for $1?). It's safe for you and the environment and works like a charm.

It's your own fault, why are you complaining about it here? Memo to self, when visiting Duke's house don't eat the food!;)

Hope you get rid of them soon.

You should start seeing them land on the ribbon. Hopefully it'll take care of 90% of the flies. Just replace it with another after 24 hrs. Take pics and post it :D
