home button and power problem

Today, all of a sudden my home button stopped working properly, when I clicked it, it wouldn't do anything except take me to my contacts, which is a shortcut I have. The phone wouldn't get out of the phone app no matter how hard I press the home button, and when I would try to power the phone off, the option wouldn't come up. I know it's not a hardware problem because when I double click it, it takes me t my shortcut. Does anyone know what's wrong??

Try restoring the phone, see if that works. If not, take it to Apple.

There are many faulty home button threads already opened. Please search with MRoogle (link in Benflick's signature) before you post a new thread.

Restore and then take to Apple Store if nessecary. If there is not an Apple or AT&T store near you then you will have to send it in. Call 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466).
